From the Desk of the President... March 2005

Greetings from the desk of the president! March is one of the happiest months of the year. It contains the first day of Spring. Spring brings with it a new hope. We are refreshed and life is renewed. We who have been cooped up all winter are out and about. We were iced out of our intended meeting on January 19th. On Wednesday March 23rd we plan on meeting and catching up at Rip's in Bowie at 9:30 am. As you may recall, we have special elections scheduled at that time. For you folks who had planned to come in January, we apologize for any inconvenience our cancellation may have caused. Please plan to attend this important meeting and bring your co-workers. I'm looking forward to it, I hope you will too.

We're actually looking forward to lots of things...As I write this, I'm looking forward to defrosting my body and heating up my mind in Fort Lauderdale at "Leadership" the first part of the month. I'm looking back and remembering our goal (resolution) of each one of us recruiting one new ENA member this year. Let us not lose focus. Also, I'm looking forward to ENA By The Bay on May 5th and 6th in Linthicum at the Maritime Institute with great speakers, networking, terrific vendors. This will be MD ENA's finest hour. If we choose, we may look even further toward the national ENA Scientific Assembly to be held in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel.

I've heard it said that a windshield is far bigger than a rear view mirror because it is so much more important where we are going than where we've been. Yes, an occasional backward glance is ok. Let's look forward together...

Counting the days 'til Spring,
Kathy Ferrara
