From the Desk of the
President...
May
2005
Greetings!
Summer is rapidly approaching. We'll all
be outside more. Our kids will soon be out of school and we all know
too well the seasonal types of injury patterns we'll see. We need to
think Summer Safety Awareness and incorporate it into our care. Many
materials are available free of charge from The Injury Preventioin
Institute. Log on to Encare@ena.org to learn more.
The list below indicates national health
and safety priorities for the month of May:
-Older American Month
-Elder Abuse Prevention Month
-Bike Safety Month
-Motorcycle Awareness Month
-Trauma Awareness Month
-EMS Week 15th - 21st
-25th Senior Health and Fitness Day
-21st - 27th Safe Boating Campaign
-23 - 30 Buckle Up America! Week
Perhaps this is not an all inclusive list,
but it is something to help us focus on Injury Prevention. We can
positively affect our communities one person at a time. This reminds
me of the bumper sticker I've seen...Think globally and act locally.
