Donna Marie Cone was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., She earned her BSN nursing degree from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y., in 1982. She met and married Lawrence Scott Brister, Sr. 21 years ago. Together, they had two daughters and a son, Lawrence Scott Jr., Deirdre Lee, and Kelly Tiernney Brister. They resided in Winhfield, MD.   

In the past, Donna has worked for Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Howard County General Hospital and Pro-Med Nursing. For the past decade until her sudden death, she was the educational specialist at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in the ED- Sinai 7. 

Donna worked hard to contribute to the hospital and make it a magnet center. She was one month from completing her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University (to have been completed 9/08).

For the past decade, Donna was active as an educator, coordinating and teaching multiple courses for her staff and in Maryland state including but not limited to TNCC, ENPC, CATN, PALS, ACLS, and BLS.

Personally, Donna was an accomplished seamstress, who enjoyed making clothes, smocking communion dresses and crocheting. She also liked cooking and entertaining, and was known for her pot roast, ambrosia and lemon meringue cookies.
 

Her sudden death of disseminated intravascular coagulation after cardio-respiratory arrest was a shock to everyone. Her funeral was held June 30^th, 2008 at her church, St. Joseph’s Roman Cathoic Community Church in Sykesville, MD.

Donna was always helpful, positive and smiling. A void exists in her absence. She will be missed by many including her ENA friends.
